Blow Out (and about) // Cakes for Japan AKA have your cake and save the world (sorta)

Who: Cakes for Japan

What (it says on the flyer): a pop-up sushi inspired cake shop raising funds for the Red Cross following the devastating events in Japan.

Where: Maiden, 188 Shoreditch High Street, EC2

When: Friday 18th March, 11.00- 19.00

We are about to be inundated with links to friends’ and colleagues’ Just Giving pages and dogeared sponsorship forms for their marathons, triathlons, epic bike rides, mega mountain hikes. There will of course be the generic blurbs about how fit and healthy they are and how they are so fricking perfect and shiny saving the world. Alright, we know. We want to save the world as well, but are too hungover and all we really want to do is watch box sets in our pajamas and eat cake.

Thank you Cakes for Japan for uniting professional and amateur cake bakers and having a massive bake off. All cakes sold will raise funds for the Red Cross. Expect to see some seriously pimped up pastries from sushi shaped candy cakes to pac man biscuits. They are also inviting you to host your own ‘Cakes For Japan’ events around the world. In your face marathon runners with your lame power shakes and tasteless energy bars. We are going fill our faces with delicious guilt free cake. We might even design some special outfits thus making it a real sport. ‘Just Giving’ page to follow.
