Blow Out (and about) // Prints Charming: Collier Campbell exhibition

If you, like me, were a child of the ’80s, the fabrics of Collier Campbell would have been the back drop to your childhood too.

I spent many a game of hide and seek hiding behind a pair of Collier Campbell print Cote d’Azur curtains which were an amazing mash up of ’80s shaped doves, palm trees and pillars in primary colours on a white background. They complimented my Dash outfits perfectly. I swear all our Mums had a square scarf in their Bauhaus design which they wore with various items of clothing we sooo wish they had kept.

With the current revival of clashing busy prints in retro style Aztec designs (see Nicola Roberts rocking ’em in her new vid here), Collier Campbell are so hot right now. Go and get all nostalgic and check out the empire these two sisters have created at their exhibition at the National Theatre celebrating their 50th anniversary. They have have created beautiful designs for Yves St Laurent (he used their fabric in his 1st ready to wear collection), Cacherel, Jaegar, Liberty of London as well as House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer (their all time best selling duvet set is a Collier & Campbell design).

It’s girl power at it’s best. All my sisters and I do is make a mess and a lot of noise.

Until 10th July 2011. Get yourselves down there.

Hello there! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading through this post reminds me of my previous room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this write-up to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

This is a great post, good writing too. The designs are certainly busy and I really like the thoughtful, hand painted style.
