Christmas gift guide // what to get the geeky girl who likes glamorous gadgets

Hello, my name’s Natalie and I’m a geek.
There, I said it. I’m a girl who likes gadgets. A woman who likes widgets. So to speak.

Maybe it’s cos I work in social media; maybe it’s cos I’m a bit of a tomboy at heart. Either way, I’m a total techie whore. And these are the things I’d most like to see in Santa’s bulging sack this yuletide (steady)…

Helluva haute headphones

skull candy tortoiseshell earphones
Major_white_Marshall_headphones

Look like a cool DJ sort, even when you’re secretly listening to Duran Duran. It’s all about outsize headphones these days, not teeny-tiny in-your-ear buds. Nope.

I’ve currently got a mahoosive basic baby pink pair of ear gear, reminiscent of girly earmuffs with inbuilt speakers, but these two sets are sexy sorts. The classic tortoiseshell pair by Roc Nation make me think of a ’70s lounge with their tan leather and gold hardware.

The Marshall headphones are pure sex in virginal white. Not only are they fully collapsible so easy to carry about in your handbag, but the exterior of the headband is made out of the same vinyl used in Marshall amplifiers. Rawk and roll.

Admittedly, we have been watching Marshall’s epic ‘On the Road’ series of late – celebrating the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle on the road and paying tribute to the men behind the scenes AKA fucking legends: the roadies – and we may think that purchasing a pair of these will give us a piece of tour bus cool, but anyhoo, we digress…

The ickle wickle printer

little_printer
Although not available until 2012, The Little Printer is a gadget well worth the wait. It’s essentially the Polaroid Camera of printing – a teeny little device that you hook up wirelessly to your phone to configure the content it prints in a mini newspaper format: news, pictures, puzzles, gossip from your pals, weather updates, calendar notifications, horoscopes, birthday reminders, a word of a day and all sorts of amazing shizzle. Christ, I’ve made it sound shite. Watch this instead.

Pre-orders for Little Printer will open in 2012. Join the mailing list to be the first to find out.

Retro Atari games console

atari_flashback_3_game_consoleThey don’t make ’em like they used to, eh? And there’s probably good reason for that, when you look at some of the so-shit-they’re-really-rather-excellent games available with this updated version of what is essentially a computing classic. All hail the return of the ever popular Atari with a newly designed retro gaming console and joystick style controllers. My only beef with this is that it doesn’t appear to have the epic (and some might say, the best) Ping Pong Game.

Vintage style iTypewriter for iPad

iPad typewriter

This is a) fucking amazing and b) fucking expensive. But anyway, this is a wish list, right?
What?
It’s a gift list you say?
For affordable ideas and inspiration?
Oh, I see.
Well, I’ve fucked that right up, eh?
But if you happen to have a spare £700 to spend on a novelty gift, make it this device.

Robot USB hub

Robot USB HubThis little fella is the shizzle. Not only is he a robot, which makes him as cool as fuck by default, but he’s actually life changing if you’re a geek. No more juggling devices! With this USB robot you can plug everything into your computer at the same time. AND he won’t give you the run around, like his human counterparts. Whatta guy.

The orgasmic alarm clock

little-rooster-alarm-clock

Thought I’d save the best for last. Yup. It’s an alarm clock cum vibrator (every pun intended). They say:

A completely new way of waking. An alarm clock that wakes you with pleasure.

I say:

Blimey!

Oh! And don’t fret:

If you wear earplugs, or sometimes worry you won’t hear your alarm, the Little Rooster is ideal for you.
