Menswear brand Folk have been a premium fave amongst fashion savvy boys since the brand launched in 2001, with the ethos of simple, uncomplicated everyday clothing accompanied by playful styling details.
Folk has retailed a select but considered women’s offer from bought-in brands like Acne and Ally Capellino in its London-based stores, as well as stocking its own-brand women’s footwear for the last few seasons – desirably androgynous wardrobe staples in rich, earthy colours and luxury leathers.
Yum. You had me at ‘desirable’…
But at long last they’ve stopped teasing us with tomboy tidbits, for tomorrow Folk launches its first ever female collection for AW12, and Folk me, it’s good.
The collection is true to the brand ethos and smacks of grown-up gorgeousness but without a hint of frumpy.
Classic shapes (folksy/pagany, paper bag waists and boyfriend fits) make the range look gorgeously designer without the price tag – but with all the savvy considered details Folk are known so well for: contrast buttons, colour pop stripes and bobbles plus fun prints that tie back into the men’s collection.
Personal faves are the contrast sleeve chambray shirt, tweed coat, and chunky knit jumpers.
And the footwear range remains practically perfect in every way – with a few key lines added to the spring sale so get in quick for a bargain. Check out, if you will, these Stefanie Chelsea boots in nubuck:
And these gorgeous leather Farah court shoes:
Folk women’s clothing collection launches in Folk stores as well as in Liberty, and Net a Porter and the Folk online store TOMORROW (Monday 16th July) and we cannot Folk-ing wait.
