Pin It Forward // Oh, how terribly Pinteresting! Pinterest launches in the UK

OK, get ready for the latest social media craze – you’re gonna love it! It’s called Pinterest and you can – GET THIS! – ‘pin’ cool shit you see on the web onto your own virtual pin boards. Image book-marking, if you will.
Wait. WHAT? You’ve already heard about it? You’ve been pinning the bejesus out of things for 500 (two) years already???

Well, so have we, y’see. After all, Pinterest has been around since 2010 but is ever-so US-centric (despite being the third largest social sharing network on the planet, with over 48 MILLION users).

Pinterest PinItForwardUK

At long last the Pinterest peeps are making the platform more localised for us Brits, with the official UK launch this month. There’s a snazzy new British English language setting (goodo old chap *doffs cap*)and improvements to serve up local content for UK pinners when searching and that.

So, for 30 days, 300 UK bloggers mangowebdesign.com are launching Pinterest in the UK by sharing their Pinterest boards, inspo and stories – from foodies through to fashion-heads, travelling nomads, bridal bloggers and beyond. The project is called #PinItForwardUK – and we’ve only been bloody asked to get involved. (And we’ve already done two swears – we’re like the naughty kid of the group).
[Appropriately enough, the first ever Le Blow pin was captioned: ‘Bendy lady and a pussy‘ – a sign of things to come, surely?]

Simarly, the Le Blow Pinterest boards are fairly representative of the site itself: Nike Air Max, inspirational women, fast food, hot men and, er, My Little Ponies.

Le Blow 90s Pinterest

However, our favourite board has to be *drum roll* The 90s. It’s all about… the 90s, featuring rainbow-haired trolls, The Fresh Prince, Clueless, The Secret World of Alex Mac, Clarissa Explains It All and My So-Called Life, to name but a few of our more popular pins.

If you need some 90s inspo in your life, you can follow Le Blow on Pinterest or if you don’t have an account yet (where have you been, srsly), start pinning by using this registration link.

Oh, and want to know what the perfect Pinterest picture is, according to science? This one:

The perfect Pinterest picture

It’s been repinned over 307,000 times, with 8,000 likes and 300 comments. Why?

No boat races – images without faces are repinned 23% more often. Cos Facebook is for people and Pinterest is for… cool shizzle.
Boring background – yup, the more clean or minimal the background, the better.
Colour crazy: Pics with a colour-poppin’ palette get more than three times the comments as images with just one.
Red is the colour: Predominantly red or orange images get twice the repins of predominately blue images.
Portrait style: Works better with the Pinterest platform.

Anyhoo, we digress. This post is part of the #PinItForwardUK launch campaign. The next link in the chain (pin on the board?) is a feisty femme who’d be quite at home here on Le Blow – Elizabeth from Rosalilium.com, who you can find pinning as @rosalilium on Pinterest. Go lookit!
