John Lennon

River Island and War Child Come Together for T-Shirt collection

1970s John Lennon was super cool – and oh-so now, style-wise. From his round shades, collection of khaki army surplus shirts, severe centre part and well-worn tennis sneaks, he also had an enviable collection of cool slogan T-shirts:

Now River Island have teamed up with international chrity War Child to recreate Lennon’s famous ‘Come Together’ tee, which he originally wore in 1971 at Cannes Film Festival with wife Yoko Ono:

The Come Together logo has been donated under license for this project by Worn Free, a California based t-shirt company that specialises in re-creating clothing that famous music legends once wore.

Worn Free bought the original screen and rights to the 1969 design from Arnie Goodman & Rob Rose who created it the late sixties as a statement of peace and sold shirts in Los Angeles and San Francisco to the local hippy community and their musician buddies, one of whom gave a shirt to John Lennon.

The River Island design team have reworked the cult classic in two new colours, with profits going directly to the cause.

The Come Together War Child T-shirt design will go on sale in selected stores and online at riverisland.com in May.
