The Music Circle presents: Rumble in the Jumble #3!

London’s most stylish jumble sale returns this time, to Oval Space in Bethnal Green on Saturday 26th April 2014.

Hosted by Le Blow fave Gemma Cairney and in association with Oxfam, following a hugely successful celebrity sale in 2013, which raised over £16,000 and featured designer donations from the likes of Alison Mosshart, Fearne Cotton, Daisy Lowe and Annie Mac.

This year is set to be even bigger and better with confirmed celebrity donations from Annie Lennox’s hand-written Sweet Dreams lyrics, Suede’s four-track recorder, shoes worn by Shirley Manson in Garbage’s video ‘Blood For Poppies’, Alt-J’s suit, and Lauren Laverne’s Marc Jacobs dresses. IMPRESSIVE SHIT.

There’ll also be brand new bits at jumble prices from Whistles, ASOS, Topman, SONOS, Schuh and Marshall Amps.

Expect pop-up hair and make-up salons, flash auctions throughout the day, a photo booth from The Photo Emporium, tea and cake from Joe’s Tea Co and Drink, Shop & Do, DJs soundtracking the shopping, and plenty of familiar faces on the stalls.

The event is raising money and awareness for women in the DRC, the victims of “the world’s most forgotten conflict”, who face constant threats of forced displacement, sexual violence, abduction and extortion.

We caught up with Gemma ahead of the event, with just one day to go:

My head is about to blow off, yesterday we got our hands on a powder blue Versace suit covered in crystals – from Elton John! This is getting brilliantly out of control.

I really do keep astounding myself at how much I care. Last night I was in the pub and getting dizzy and excited that Rumble In The Jumble is in its third year and tried to explain why we are doing it and why we care so much. What some of the women in the DRC have dealt with is too much for me to understand;  it’s too dark for me to fathom, too sad for me not go in hard and try and raise as much money possible.

Working with The Music Circle proves that if we work together, if we pull out all the stops, so much can be achieved.

AMEN TO THAT, SISTAH!

All you need to do is bring a bag of jumble  and get ready to rumble! We’ll see you there.
