Style bite // Meadham Kirchhoff S/S’12: bonkers fashion at it’s best

When Jeremy Scott did his (slightly bonkers) thing with Adidas we were BIG fans. See, we love a bit of playful irony, but Meadham Kirchhoff’s S/S’12 collection takes playful irony, pumps it up like a balloon and explodes it in your face.

When I was about eight and wanted to be a fashion designer one week, my sketches resembled this range. At some points I seriously wondered if the entire collection had been comissioned by Grayson Perry.

We probably won’t see a lot of the S/S’12 Meadham Kirchhoff collection filtering onto the high street but it’s nice to see some are not taking fashion so seriously.

With it’s over the top dramatics, these guys are having fun and being whimsical. I bet the designers behind this label – Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff (both former students from Central Saint Martins) – don’t go around air kissing and saying ‘fabulous’. And that is a good thing, in the little LB book of fash-wan, dah-ling.
