Hello! I’m doing a doing a series of nine x one hour tastings on Thursdays throuhout July and August at the Climpson’s Arch in London Fields. Different theme each week. Hopefully some themes you won’t have seen before. And probably won’t again.
Snappy and fun, you’ll learn a little and taste a lot (well, six wines each week). You should consider staying afterwards for dinner from the Licky Chop BBQ. I’ve eaten everything on the menu several times and even the veggies and the oysters are as good as the hunks of meat and fillets of fish.
All the wines are from Bottle Apostle in Victoria Park and they’re kindly offering a 10% discount on a box of the six you taste each week.
If you don’t know Climpson’s Arch, it’s the railway arch no.374, where Climpson and Sons roast their coffee, on the east side of London Fields. Google map it, it’s a bit tricky to find if you haven’t been there before: E8 3SB.
Last summer they had Burnt Enz. This year, Thursday-Sunday it’s Licky Chop. Big arch, half indoors, half outdoors, a bar, some tables, chairs, a bit of music, a massive coffee roaster and an outdoor kitchen – not many better places to spend a sunny day and night.
Below is what’s on week by week. Click HERE for tickets. Be quick, there are only a few each week. It’s either £20 or £25 each week. If you wanna see what the wines are for each week click here. Any questions just leave a comment for me below. Hope to see you there.

11 JUL: Fizzy
3 white, 3 rose, none from Champagne.
25 JUL: Italy: Top, Middle or Bottom?
A white and a red from the top, the middle and the bottom from the country producing arguably the most diverse and food friendly wines in the world.
01 AUG: Not Rioja
Selection of reds from Spain’s many regions, but not Rioja. One of the most exciting wine producing countries at the moment.
08 AUG: Rose, yes really.
Have you ever been to an all rose tasting? Neither have I. So I’m doing one.
15 AUG: Weird Grapes and Crazy Labels
Wines from all over. As long as it’s made from a weird grape or got a crazy label stuck on, preferably both, it’s allowed here.
22 AUG: You don’t like Chardonnay?
We’ll see about that. A grape that wears many hats. Burgundy and beyond.
29 AUG: Speed Dial Wines
Reliable and delicious wines to always have to hand.
