It’s now socially acceptable to wear your swimsuit pretty much whenever. Be it day or night, at the beach or at the bus stop. Just checking you got the memo.
This week Rihanna went shopping in Monaco wearing little more than a wisp of lace and a black Matthew Zinc one-piece. In an amazing feat of improbability she looked vaguely put together, if a little underdressed:
Put it this way, and think of it like a wardrobe reduction, a summer style detox. If you don’t feel ready to go sans trousers (and frankly, who the hell does?) style your swimwear like a 90’s bodysuit with denim or breezy silk separates and incorporate it into the rest of your look with ease.
The trick is going easy on the layers and keep inevitable marathon bathroom time to a minimum. Team your one-piece with with delicate jewellery and flats for lo-fi holiday charm. Lastly, make your choice with care. If the swimsuit is to become your summer hero piece so it’s gotta be up to acceptable daywear scrutiny. Naturally, NO cowboy hats (circa World Cup 2006) are permitted.
