I LOVE Liberty of London, and I love luxe skinny scarf-makers Rockins. So when I heard the latter were hosting a pre-festival warm-up in Liberty’s famous Scarf Hall last week, I just had to swing on by.
For the uninitiated, the Rockins back story goes a little summin’ like this:
Rockins started Christmas 2014 when partners Jess Morris and Tim Rockins hand-made silk scarves as presents for their closest pals. These friends, however, were pretty high profile, and so when said scarves were spotted slung around the necks of Kate Moss, Jamie Hince and Bobby Gillespie, media interest spiked, and Rockins was born.
Tim is a DJ and illustrator, while Jess has more than 20 years’ experience in fashion PR, resulting in a bit of a force to be reckoned with, brand-wise.
Music and the 1970s are their main inspiration, and quality is key when it comes to their product: all scarves are made in 100% silk with a bias cut and hand-finished mitred point, creating that cool, nonchalant signature style.
Liberty of London were the first outlet to stock Rockins, so it seemed rather apt for Rockins to host their happening there:
Rockins took over the famous Scarf Hall in their trademark decadent manner: Guests reclined on gorgeous scattered floor cushions and throws from Rockins’ new Lux Interior collection while cocktails and canapés were served and an incredible sitar player some seriously psychedelic stuff.
As you’d expect, a very cool crowd assembled for the event:
Jess Morris and Tim Rockins
Siobhan Turner and Jess Morris
Tim Rockins spinning the soundtrack to the evening
Press play on the Insta-vid above to hear the amazing sitar player, Charlie Selvidge!
Thomas Cohen and Hayett Mccarthy
Vincent Davies and Siobhan Turner
A most groovy evening was had by all.
And I’m just gonna throw it out there: Jess and Tim should host a full-on London-based three-day festival next summer, yes? It’d totally be the hottest ticket in town!
