To celebrate the 80th anniversary of its signature silk squares next year, French luxury brand Hermès has launched a series of pop-up laundrette spaces called Hermèsmatic. Having already made appearances in New York and Paris, I’ve heard a rumour that Hermèsmatic will be popping up in Manchester, UK this Autumn. You know I love me a retro laundrette so I’m #KEEN.
Unlike your local laundrette, Hermèsmatic is an altogether chicer affair, where customers can take their old silk scarves and give ’em a new lease of life, in a blue or pink rinse. Then a dryer restores their softness.
The quick wash ain’t that quick, taking 48 hours total, but your freshly laundered scarf is neatly folded and packaged in brown paper – slightly better treatment than being shoved in a plastic laundry basket, right?
And the best bit? You don’t even need to remember to bring change, as the service is FREE FREE FREE.
Of course, there’s the option to spend dollar if ya wanna; you can also snap up a brand new scarf, based on the brand’s best-selling vintage classics. Wash and go, go, GO!
