Pretty much ~everything~ makes me feel old lately, but get this: I Predict A Riot by Kaiser Chiefs came out TWELVE YEARS AGO.
It’s fair to say quite a lot’s changed over the last decade (welp!); early noughties style (wasn’t a good look for any of us, amIrite?) and lead singer Ricky Wilson’s weight-loss aside, the band have made the move from shouty indie guitar group to producing bubble-gum pop, and new single We Stay Together is no exception.
Part New Order and a whole lotta Talking Heads, this is my new favourite ‘walking-down-the-street-pretending-to-be-in-a-music-video’ choon, giving it my spin on John Travolta’s Staying Alive disco strut.
The album, of the same name, has had mixed (read: shit) reviews, but I’m really enjoying this slice of synthy pop with its radio-friendly chorus and funky ‘leccy beats. I’ve currently got it on repeat RN.
