Gwen Stefani’s frolicking in the pumpkin patch already and Heidi Klum’s had her space monster outfit planned since June. Lets face it, Halloween across the pond is just that tiny bit more awesome than here.
And if the Halloween parties in US teen movies are to be believed, well it’s just off-the-hook INCREDIBLE. Prepare for a social calendar explosion of wall-to-wall sexy cats, hot sensitive boys in skeleton outfits and gangs of dancing zombies throwing loo rolls across every giant tree in your front yard. Aces, right?
From the end of the world succeeding Donnie Darko’s spooky soirée to Mean Girls’ slut-off and a frankly bizarre turn from SJP in Hocus Pocus – our 3 fav Halloween party scenes show us how to do fancy dress, Hollywood-style;
Donnie Darko
There really is no need to encourage your fancy-dress shy boyfriend to wear anything more than a skeleton top and a grey hoodie.
When his friends appear at the door dressed as Hulk Hogan and a Viking with a four pack of beer and some Andrex in hand, you can then safely leave them to it.
Mean Girls
“Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girl can say anything about it.” GIRL POWER. Really though Lilo STILL wins for turning up at the party dressed as a zombie bride (but mabs lose the teeth though babes, yah?)
Hocus Pocus
SJP (1993 pre-Carrie Bradshaw OF COURSE) makes dressing like a simpleton witch desirable. I KNOW. Someone worked some pretty serious magic there. Still, she plays a witch throughout the movie, not just for Halloween showing some characteristic Carrie-style commitment to the fashion cause. Start planning your look now for a night for that teen movie-ready entrance.
Happy partyiuls!
