What’s big in our box // Tegan and Sara – I Was A Fool

Twins are, like, TOTALLY HOT RIGHT NOW.

From Marc Jacobs’ checkerboard twins on his SS13 catwalk through to having your very own style sista AKA Australian twins Jess and Stef Dadon of How Two Live.

Hellz, even McQueen’s Sarah Burton is expecting twins and so cannot show at Paris this season – TWINS ARE ALL THE BLOODY RAGE.

And what with stupid Valentine’s Day fast approaching (see this for our general thoughts on the whole shebang), we’re all over cool muso twins singing about heartbreak.

Step forward Tegan and Sara, tattooed Canadian RAWK twins with a penchant for penning ridiculously catchy pop songs.

But if you think they’re a new act, cue a Family Fortunes style INCORRECT buzzer! They formed their band in 1995 and their forthcoming album ‘Heartbreak’ is their SEVENTH ALBUM.

‘I Was A Fool’ is an excellent bouncy ballad, sounding like the lesbian love child of Kate Bush and Cyndi Lauper. With plinkety piano underpinnings, it’s all about pining after a past love but is sugar-coated, substantial pop at it’s bestest. If you like Haim, you’ll ruddy love it.

I Was A Fool, taken from Tegan and Sara’s new album Heartthrob, out 29th January 2013.
