From midnight to baby blue shades, working blue tonally all over is a big story next season. Denim (duh!) is the most obvious entry point and the AW13 shows show us how to work it.
James Long gave us boyish, boxy denim shapes and contrast fabrics such as rubber and mohair. Turn-ups, tapestry and cropped jean shapes were styled back with Nicolas Kirkwood printed slippers.
Take Marques’Almeida as your obligatory 90’s reference with heavy blue camouflage denim hues. Margaret Howell, Richard Nicoll and Christopher Kane also offered directional interpretations of the fabric.
And so on our wardrobes. Joseph, Acne and Zara have great takes on denim this season. Or take a tip from the fashion eds and layer blue pieces in contrasting shades, prints and fabrics such as suede, leather and silk.
