Elle Fanning. For. The. Win.

Sibling rivalry is a terrible thing. But in the case of celebrities it does mean that we get to sit back and judge who is better like the voyeuristic, cackling bastards we are. Mary-Kate and Ashley, Maggie and Jake, Ben and Casey – all successful in their own right and yet under constant scrutiny to their older/younger/hotter kin’s achievements. And ‘cos I like to see a bit of er, healthy rivalry, that scrutiny won’t stop here friends!

Ever since Dakota Fanning got all up in Ally McBeal’s grill way back in 2000 (oh god I miss that show), she’s climbed beyond the shoulders of Tom Cruise to play a torture -inflicting vampire harridan and partake in some steamy chick-on-chick scenes with Kristen Stewart. And just as she starts to shed her tween image, who comes along but little sister Elle, nipping at her ankles and surpassing all of Dakota’s hard work by ten.

Bagging a lead role in Somewhere, Elle played the cool-as-fuck daughter to ‘man we’d most like to slam whisky shots with’ and all-round reformed bad boy, Stephen Dorff. And kicked it like a boss with Sofia Coppola all to a Phoenix soundtrack (nepotism’s a win-win for everyone sometimes). That’s some sort of coolness overload right there.

Then she takes the cover of French fashion and lifestyle mag, Jalouse looking all nonchalant and shit.

And now, this 12-year-old is the face of Rodarte’s latest video campaign. Yes, the same Rodarte who designed the costumes for the most talked about film of the last 12 months, Black Swan. You can watch the video of Elle wondering around in a layered skirt, uncovering treasures and whatnot to the ambient sounds of Deerhunter, here. Fuck. She is cool.
