Seems we’ve got a thing for lady singers with exotic names, eh? First Lana Del Rey and now our current musical girl crush is 21 year old Lianne La Havas, having spotted her on Jools Bloody Holland this week.
Surprisingly, she’s not Cuban (or something), but British. Yeah yeah, we know what you’re thinking: not another quirky Brit popstrel along the (late and great) Amy / Adele lines. But this singer/songwriter and, er, instrument player possesses the sort of smooth, syrupy vocals that draw you in like bees to honey. I’m blaming that bad reference on hearing a snippet of Billie Piper in the staff canteen earlier. ‘Kay?
Lianne’s debut E.P Lost and Found tells of tales (tells of tales? What is wrong with me today? I mean seriously!) of love and life in London. In fact, you know what? I’m gonna quit my jibba jabba and take Lianne’s lead of keeping it real simple.
