The dip dye tsunami spread like a rainbow across town from Kingsland Road’s Bleach. From your best friend to the girl sitting in front of you on the 48 bus, peroxide tips or colour became standard.

Signals that the dip dye’s edginess is now effectively OVER come with Amber Heard dip dying her dog with food colouring and Made in Chelsea’s Gabriella Ellis matching her over styled rainbow mane to her nails. It’s a basic rule of life that when reality TV stars adopt street trends they become fashion toast. The dip dye just became this decade’s equivalent of a bubble perm.

What next on the agenda then for seekers of a new beauty buzz? Consider 3D false lashes, bitch talons, DIY face gem art and coloured or bejewelled eyebrows. Just make sure you’re there before the Made in Chelsea crew.
